Which vaccinations will I need to protect me in the country I am visiting ?
When planning a trip to a new country, one of the most important things to consider is which vaccinations you will need. Different regions of the world have different diseases and health risks, so it's crucial to protect yourself by getting the necessary shots. Some common vaccinations to ask about include those for hepatitis A and B, typhoid, and malaria. It's also important to inquire about any required vaccinations for entry into the country, such as for COVID-19. Don't forget to schedule your vaccinations at least 4-6 weeks before your trip to ensure full protection. Your health and safety should always be a top priority while traveling.
Vaccination Overview
Hepatitis A
A single injection that provides protection for one year. A booster dose is required after one year, and then no further boosters are needed for 25 years.
Diphtheria, Polio, and Tetanus
A single injection provides protection against diphtheria, polio and tetanus for 10 years. A booster dose is recommended after 10 years, providing protection for a further 10 years.
Typhoid
A single injection provides protection against typhoid for approximately three years. A booster dose is recommended after three years if ongoing protection is required.
Cholera
A single course of vaccination provides protection against cholera for approximately two years. A booster dose may be recommended after two years if ongoing protection is required.
Hepatitis B
A full course of three injections provides long-term protection against hepatitis B. A booster dose is not routinely required for most healthy individuals once the primary course has been completed.
Rabies
A primary course of two injections provides protection against rabies for individuals at ongoing risk of exposure. A booster dose may be recommended depending on the level and duration of ongoing risk, in accordance with current vaccination guidance.
